Catching up...

Things have been totally crazy around here the last couple of weeks. I always think that things will slow down in the summer but, they never do. Here are a few things that have been happening here at the Hoen Household.

A couple of weeks ago they split our ward. I was really anxious about it wondering what would happen to my calling. I had real mixed emotions about it. I could see how it would be a blessing to keep my calling or lose it. Several days went by and I had heard nothing. We were leaving to go to the Grand Canyon Thurs after the ward split. On Tues as I did a dry run packing the van I saw our new Bishop driving around checking out the new ward. (More on that later.) He waved and probably didn't know who I was was. Thurs came and we left for the Grand Canyon. My brother Spencer caught a ride with us. It was cramped but, we made it. BTW, don't stop at Henrie's Drive-in in Panguitch. It took about 40 mins to get our ok food. So, much for a quick stop.

This is us when we got to the Grand Canyon on Thurs evening. It was just beautiful. The kids we scared at first to get close. We had to drag Jessica over to take the picture!

We had a wonderful time with my family. (Thanks again Jared and Adrienne for putting it all together!!) Friday, July 4th, was pretty hot. But, we had fun looking at the different views, watching the IMAX movie, going to story time for the kids (they learned all about animal poop!!) and Kyle loved riding in the buses! Friday night and Saturday morning it rained and it was great!! Cooled things off just enough to make it perfect! We went to the Watchtower, which was built in the 1920s. We climbed to the top to the the views.... amazing!! We heading back early for dinner.

After dinner Dan got a phone call... from the Bishop! He wanted to talk to us the when we got home. Sun morning we started the long drive home. We had a good time despite some dirt and out tent blowing over one day but, I was ready to sleep in a real bed!!

When we got home we took much needed showers, ate dinner and waited not so patiently for the Bishop. First he told us a funny story about the new YM's president's testimony. Apparently he saw a happy looking man driving around on Tues, waved at him and then realized it was the Bishop. Oh, no! Was he going to get a calling? Well, I saw him the same night. So, don't wave at the Bishop if you see him driving around your neighborhood. You might not like what come next. He then called me to be the Primary President again!! This time is a little bit harder because we are a new ward and have nothing! Not a teacher, or a manual or a toy for our 45 nursery children!! I had a busy week getting everything ready for Primary this last Sunday. It went more smoothly than I thought it would. We had lessons, and even toys with very little chaos!!

Now let's see how long it takes me to make another post.... Next month? HAHA!
